I think everybody overestimates my bullshit and anybody who isn't used to it by now just needs to hang out with me more. and while that might be true nothing else has really changed so you'd think she'd let up about the books
whoever "they" are that say all of these things are really inconsistent with their advice
i'm not calling thalia insane. i like my balls where they are. you do it and see if it's one of those times where she takes pity on you instead, THEN it'll count
nah, you're all right. i've gotten a few texts so far that weren't meant for me. apparently this just isn't the month for technology
and no, I ALSO like my balls where they are? she's already been on a mini warpath because of retrospec, I'm not getting in the line of fire yet. but we'll bet on it. she has to pity me sometimes
man, I have enough issues with my phone the last thing I need is people getting wrong numbers all over. are they all at least from people you know?
yeah if there was anyone they made a mistake in picking for this network it was thalia. tell you what, here's the plan: we both tell her that RETROSPEC called her insane and watch as she drags them five ways from sunday and then rips their collective balls off
so far they have been, but who knows? if it's through the network messages could be landing anywhere
what about you? have yours all come from people you know? actually that may be a stupid question i don't know how many of your patrons wind up with your number somehow
as much as I hate to admit it that idea might actually work out perfectly. pretty sure retrospec doesn't need their balls anyway or they'd be more protective of them
pretty much everything I've been getting so far has been from people I know but I've been getting misfires not meant for me. and what are you trying to say here? I don't give out my number THAT easily
i can have good ideas, you know. now we've just gotta set it up
i know, but did you really expect me to pass up on a joke about getting the bartender's number when i had the chance? mine are pretty much the same. you getting me instead of thalia, arlene getting me instead of some friend of hers, and my law prof... i don't know if i WANT to know who his text was supposed to go to
with the bullshit that I usually hear from you you make a guy wonder
at this point I don't expect much, nah. but I'm hoping this gets sorted out sooner or later, I don't even text that much and this is already starting to drive me crazy wonder if there's a way to track this though, see where it's going to end up going before it goes
bullshit is more fun to put out there. you either get good banter or you get a great expression on the other person's face while they try to figure out if you're serious or not
who knows? based on how often they've said anything to us so far, we're probably looking at this happening until at least april. unless retrospec's INTENT was to have the network open up any time you decided to send a message...
yeah that had better not be the case, otherwise i'm betting the building's been burnt down inside a month
i don't know of any way to track where your messages are going though. it seems like it doesn't happen until you hit send. before that, everything looks completely normal
why do you think I bullshit half of my patrons half the time? works in my favor
so okay, another couple of weeks. can't be too bad if we just don't even talk to anybody ever again. perfect strategy. what is with you guys and suggesting we burn down the building I ONLY SAID DESTROY, NOT BURN DOWN.
even so maybe there's some weird six degrees of separation thing to it based on the people we know. something's gotta click somewhere
destroying it means they can rebuild it too you know
burning it down is a show
and a little less fear-inducing for your normal people too. you burn down a building, oh it's just some reckless wild hooligans screwing around. you destroy a building and suddenly there are people OUT TO GET US and a more thorough police investigation
getting arrested isn't that scary, don't let guys like bigby tell you otherwise but all right, if you wanna play it the safe way burning down a building would be easier to write off as an accident maybe I just wanted to see how fast they'd rebuild the building if the building were destroyed entirely. seems like the whole thing went up overnight anyway
[Dante snorts on his end. He's not afraid of getting arrested. But getting arrested would cause his parents a world of trouble if word of it got out, and as much as he's a teenage douchelord, he's actually not trying to cause them grief.
But like hell he'll admit that.]
i'm not afraid of getting arrested. it's a hassle i don't feel like dealing with
you've got a good point though. think if you destroyed it one night, it'd be back by the next morning?
okay that's a good enough point. I can let that one slide THAT'S exactly what I'd like to know. we don't know where the building came from and checking it out we don't know what's actually in it. if we destroyed it, would it rebuild or would we find out what's actually in there? the problem is making sure there's nobody in the building while trying to destroy it. I'm not really into the idea of destroying people without a real reason
[...there are better ways to phrase it, but you know. Whatever.]
i doubt we'd be able to find out what's in there even if we DID reduce it to rubble
somehow even on the night of the blackout the doors wouldn't open and would zap you if you tried to force them
and there's something in there that makes the stairs turn into a slide if you try to climb them (and no i'm not making this shit up, i've got two people who can vouch for me)
but the point is that somehow even while the whole city was powerless, stuff like that still happened in the building. i'm willing to bet even if you destroyed it the rooms would somehow still be standing and locked
I'm not gonna ask what you were doing there when the blackout was going on, but that sounds more like they have their own generator or another powersource somewhere. maybe underground or something. but that shouldn't make the stairs change
if there's no structure, there shouldn't be any rooms. unless you think the outside would cave away and there'd be freestanding rooms with zero access. actually, I could probably buy that too considering the other weird crap going on
I want to see a building permit. or blueprints. SOMETHING to prove that the city actually approved of retrospec even being here. how hard could that be?
maybe if there's another mysterious city-wide power outage i'll bring my phone charger with me and see if the outlets work
but yeah, i'm saying the outside would cave away and there'd be freestanding cubes of rooms. i wouldn't be surprised one bit
don't they have blueprint archives at like city hall or something? something like that's supposed to be a matter of public record, right? but good luck finding it, i'm willing to bet it's just as vague and obscure as the rest of all this is
no subject
And then...]
honestly knowing you, i'd say you were probably just asking for her to throw the book at you
[Why yes he is just going to answer this with a pun. Yes, he is.]
no subject
[THIS WAS NOT MEANT FOR YOU? But he's going to roll with it anyway.]
and I've never done anything in my life to ask for such a thing
no subject
if this was about thalia i think you ask for it just by being alive
no subject
:| you're probably not wrong, but she's been putting up with my stupid ass for over a decade so she can't be too mad about me being alive
no subject
asking for it just by being alive doesn't necessarily mean she wants to kill you
it just means you've got enough bullshit to outproduce the running of the bulls and she's not the sort of person to put up with it
no subject
no subject
and i'm pretty sure thalia would kick my ass if i said she was insane for thinking you'd ever stop
so i'm gonna have to say you're the insane one here for thinking she'd let up
no subject
thalia would definitely kick your ass if you called her insane. do it anyway, that might be fun to watch
sometimes she takes pity on me. it's rare and I never expect it, but sometimes. it COUNTS
so hey are you getting a bunch of weird texts too or did I really just fuck this up?
no subject
i'm not calling thalia insane. i like my balls where they are. you do it and see if it's one of those times where she takes pity on you instead, THEN it'll count

destroying it might involve explosions
burning it down is straight and simple
no subject
destroying it means there are no signs of evidence. think about that
