[It is the most frustrating thing he could have responded with--but Dante also recognizes that he's doing it on purpose, so as much as it kills him to do so, he's not arguing the point.]
something like that
more like she saw me bite it yesterday while i was trying something out so i had to explain it to her
[He keeps on finding more and more reasons to like Grell, honestly. Not giving Ardyn the details of his mishap yesterday is just more points in her book.]
long story short: magic parkour
it's like some sort of power flow i can tap into to boost different sorts of movement. it's a little tough to control right now though, it feels like it's got a mind of its own and i'm just along for the ride. so far i can kick off a wall and coast along on it a little bit
it also kicks in on rails too but i haven't managed to get the hang of that yet
[Hence the eating pavement the day before. It was a pretty glorious wipeout.]
it depends what i'm doing with it, if i'm kicking off a wall i can free-slide for a couple seconds before it dies out. i haven't managed to make it down a full rail yet so i don't know what happens after that, but i THINK it'll at least last the length of the rail. i haven't lost control because of a loss of power yet, anyways, it's all balancing it
And yet I believe in both you and your ability to not make stupid decisions in life, Dante. I know the propensity for it is there, /somewhere/.
[givin him shit]
I'm interested to know how far you can push it, then. If the abilities that have been granted to us are to be taken as they are, or can be developed further and more effectively.
[SHAKING HIS HEAD, but Dante will leave that one be for now. Ardyn's full of shit and they both know it. This is just one more of those examples.]
well when i first used it i managed to use it to boost a jump pretty high up. i'm wondering what'd happen if i used it to slide back at a wall and kick off again, maybe i can chain them together
As long as you didn't slip and fall, then I suppose it would be helpful. Of course, you've not very many reasons to go traipsing around buildings in such a manner.
Not as farfetched, but the chances may still not run in your favor. If you become nothing more than a sorry smear on the pavement one day due to your /lack/ of flying powers, Dante, you have no one to blame but yourself.

good
you'll probably find out more about him in time
just don't go reliving it yourself. if i'm not allowed to make dumb choices then neither are you
[Does "dumb choices" refer to the art museum or to the darkness from his memories? Take your guess.]

[While this could be taken with an edge of sarcasm, and it may be a little teasing, it's mostly sincere.
The tone at least clarifies itself with the following:]
Thank you, Dante. But I didn't mean to worry you; I only wished to keep you up-to-date.

[>T >T >T!!!!!!!!!]
but thanks for keeping me in the loop
i should probably update you on a couple things i've remembered at some point too
otherwise your girlfriend might beat me to the punch

[The most frustrating comment he could have responded with! You bet it's on purpose.
But he moves on with the rest of the conversation.]
Grell? You've spoken to her about your memories?
[Well this is new.]

something like that
more like she saw me bite it yesterday while i was trying something out so i had to explain it to her

[Because Ardyn definitely would have brought it up in some form or fashion before now, otherwise.]
Tell me.

It sounds as if it would be a useful skill to have, if you manage to control it someday.
Tell me, am I to assume that you were practicing this new talent of yours, only to have it end badly and Grell stumble across you?
no subject
no subject
You'll not be using this skill of yours to just find yourself in more trouble, I hope?
no subject
i'm not looking to repeat the art museum any time soon though, don't worry
anyways, i've been practicing on soft surfaces when i can, the worst that's happened is i jammed my wrist a little but it's fine now
i'm not gonna do anything stupid with it until i know i can control it
no subject
How long does this "magic parkour" of yours last?
no subject
you've met me haven't you?
you should already know that's asking too much

[why are they like this]
trust me, i'm gonna find out. i want to get the hang of this rail slide first, and then i've got a couple ideas to test out
no subject
What sort of ideas?
no subject
well when i first used it i managed to use it to boost a jump pretty high up. i'm wondering what'd happen if i used it to slide back at a wall and kick off again, maybe i can chain them together

[i hate myself for writing that]
i'm laughing
it'd be pretty cool if it worked, right?
no subject
[Right?]

[That's a minefield and the best way to avoid it is just to not even go into it.]

[Between Dante and Prompto you two will be the death of him]
