[That's a good question. For a moment, Dante's quiet as he considers...]
It's hard to say. I can pinpoint those two most of the time, but the other ones... I'm not sure if I'm actually sensing them or if I just think I sense them. But there are maybe three or four others I might be able to pick out if I were close enough.
Well. It's rather a pity I can't imagine you'll be keeping this ability for long. But I would like to know more about your, ah, normal one, so to speak. The one that concerns materializing items.
[Oh, Ros, why are you always asking the hard questions? He's not going to have a satisfactory answer for this one, either.]
I put out my hand and it appears there. Then, when I don't need it any more, I let go and it disappears.
[He knows that's not good enough though. Give him a moment.]
It's... kind of like I told the prof. I can feel it's there, even if I can't actually see it. [Unbidden, his hand comes up over his heart, as though feeling for Soul Eater inside of him.] So I know that when I need it, it's going to be there--it can't not be, because if it didn't show up, I wouldn't have it.
[On his end, Dante's shaking his head, even if Ros can't see it.]
No. I know the prof can, but I think mine works differently than his does. My sword... I can feel it in my heart, normally. Not just floating around in some nebulous place.
[If he sounds a bit perplexed, that's because he is. What is there to describe about Soul Eater? Its appearance seems too simple for all the other questions she's been asking him.]
All right. [Still, there's a slight hesitation to what he says next, because god damn has he taken some shit from people about his sword!]
It's shaped like a bat's wing. The spines are dark blue, and what's the membrane part is red. It's pretty wide at the spine, but it goes to a sharp edge at the bottom of the wing. No sort of guard on it, a black-wrapped handle, and there's this... it almost looks like an eye set into it. It's almost the same color as mine are, but if there was a cat-shaped pupil instead.
[Well. That's certainly . . . Hot Topic . . . but no, she won't give him shit for it. She is taking notes, though, and so there's a few seconds' pause.]
Does any of that have any meaningful significance to you?
All right. [He takes a moment, mentally cataloging the information he's got so far.]
They come in a lot of different shapes and sizes. The ones I remember the most of are these little bulbous shadows with glowing yellow eyes and sharp claws. They're about knee height and have these antenna sticking out of their head. [Even though he knows she can't see him on the phone, Dante gestures, drawing the antennae out for her.] But there are these other ones called Behemoths, which are gigantic and mainly use the horn on their head to attack, or Darksides, which are like the shadows if they ever grew up. I don't know if I've remembered everything yet, but I know that they're supposedly "born of the darkness in people's hearts," whatever that's supposed to mean.

[God, how fascinating . . . Rosalind pauses for a few seconds, thinking about this, and then:]
What do you mean by feels familiar? Do they have have an individual feeling, or flavor, or--?

He closes his eyes, pushing out with that strange sense in Ari's direction. He knows roughly where she'd be at this time, working hard...]
It's hard to explain. It's different for each person. Ari... it's this kind of light warmth. With Prompto it's a little more energetic.
I don't know if it would be the same feeling for the person who normally has this power, though.
no subject
[She doesn't know Ari, but she does know Prompto, and heaven knows energetic is a good word for him.]
Perhaps it's based on your perceptions of them. I assume you regard this Ari warmly?

[Draw your own conclusions, Rosalind. It shouldn't be too hard.]

Still! She believes him, in no small part because that's somewhat what Ardyn had described.]
Can you do it with any object? Or is it simply the blade alone?
no subject
No. I know the prof can, but I think mine works differently than his does. My sword... I can feel it in my heart, normally. Not just floating around in some nebulous place.

[Why his heart of all places? For that matter, why a sword?]

Yes, what it looks like. There's a great many swords in the world, and I'd appreciate the elaboration.

The only thing I know is that it's mine. It just feels right somehow, like I was always meant to have it. And in my memories, the other me had it too.

So far I've remembered two different types: the Heartless and Dream Eaters.
[Very descriptive names, aren't they, Rosalind?]
no subject
And do those creatures have descriptions to go along with those names?
no subject
Yeah, but there are a whole bunch of different types of each. Like how there are multiple types of bears or monkeys. Which one do you want first?

You haven't seen anyone else you recognize here in your memories, have you?
