Grandmother. [He watches Derek measuring out the soda, for a moment both curious and put off by the idea of growing up with so many siblings, but then continues:] My old man's parents were from Finland and Iceland. They came here when he was a kid, so a lot of traditions stuck. Amma's Icelandic.

I was pretty much an only child, though. That many siblings would've driven me crazy.

[Derek drops in the baking soda, grabs the molasses bottle and the quarter cup, and starts pouring the thick sugary liquid. He chuckles at Dante's last comment.]

Mate, it's a siblings job to drive you crazy. That's part of the fun. They are also there to have your back. I mean, yeah friends can do that too, but I'm just saying, if someone ever tries to mess with my little sister, well [Derek smirks.] lets just say that my degree in forensic science will prove useful.

[Derek starts pouring the molasses and casually glances over at Dante.]

Did you get the other dry ingredients?

Who's your sister? [Yeah, he's just going to be making a mental note here to either... well. Is this the mental note to stay away from her or is this the mental note to accept the unspoken challenge?

He's certainly not telling.]

Yeah, I've got 'em. [He's waiting for Derek to be done with the molasses though; that stuff is impossible and dropping it into a mound of flour sounds like a recipe for getting powder everywhere...

But luckily for them both, the process of making the dough goes smoothly enough, and soon it's time to roll it out and start cutting in the bricks!]

Which of us came up with the idea to build a castle? I'm blaming you.

[Derek eyes Dante for a second before looking back at the bowl and start pouring the molasses in.]

Her name is Amanda. However, she's seventeen and in high school. If you know what's good for you, hands off. [Derek looks back at Dante again and gives him a warning glare.]

[Once the dough is finished, Derek starts rolling it out.]

We've already come this far, might as well keep going... unless, you want to give up?
