C'mon, boy.

[Dante pulls the leash into his mix, keeping an eye on the chihuahua as it sniffs at the dogs he's being put with now. Luckily, it seems like they'll avoid disaster for now, but he slows his pack's gait a little bit to compensate for the new dog's shorter legs.]

I don't know about that. There've been cats that just had their litter box cleaned and they'll look right at you before they go somewhere else.

[Like on the coat you left on the floor after it fell off a chair. He's not still annoyed by that at all, really.]

[Derek raises his eyebrows at Dante in surprise.]

My cat doesn't even do that and he's an asshole. My family and friends literally say he is the devil cat and he still has the decency to use his litter box.

You don't have to believe me. I'm just telling you what I've seen.

At least these guys all go outside.

True, dog owners down't have to deal with litter box smells.

[Derek glances over at Dante.]

Did you ever have pets growing up?

Nah. It never really came up. Pets are a lot of work for a kid, and then I was too busy.

[Speaking of busy...]

Uh-oh, watch out. We're coming up on trouble.

[Preparations for the winter festival are in full swing! There are people all over, setting up booths and arranging displays... but the "trouble" Dante's referring to is a food stall that appears to be getting its supplies delivered, several large packages of meat on top of one of the pallets ]

Let's try and steer clear of there.

[Derek sees exactly what Dante is talking about and his hands grip the leashes a bit tighter.]

I see.

[Derek nods over to a turn off not far from them.]

How about we take them over there? I think there's a park nearby.

Sure, that works for me. Just watch out for the alley on Spruce. There's a deli there that's pretty bad about missing the dumpster when it throws stuff out.

[But hey, no matter which direction they go they're going to run into trouble, right? So with a shrug, Dante's giving a slight tug on his leashes, carefully directing the pups toward the correct way.]

[They turn off the main road and for a bit everything is fine. That is, until they get to the deli and one of the dogs Derek is walking jerks forwards and starts running towards the meat haven. Derek tries his best to pull the dog back, but all of the dogs have joined the once lone dog his his noble doggy quest.]

NOOO! NO, STOP! STOP YOU STUPID DOGS!
