the fact that it's been over a month and you've only had those two
[Actually, now that he thinks about it, Ardyn does have a point. For as much as Dante thinks Ardyn seems like the sort of guy to chase his answers down with a singleminded focus, it's not like he's got a lot to go off of so far. He's got monsters and being on a train. Where does one go from there?]
i guess there's not a lot for you to go off so far though, huh
who was the person that remembered tonberries? was it freya?
[Oh. Ardyn coming to him? This is new, isn't it? It's felt to Dante so far like it's always been him, bitching and moaning about how ~hard~ his life is. So while to call him eager might be a bit too far, he's definitely interested in what Ardyn has to say.]
[If Dante knew that he'd missed that, he would have been so sad. Alas.]
well, i remembered a few of those monsters because you were sharing your memories on the network. i showed her the pictures i drew of them and she remembered a monster called a behemoth because of it
it's a pretty slim connection, but it was a possibility
getting arrested isn't that scary, don't let guys like bigby tell you otherwise but all right, if you wanna play it the safe way burning down a building would be easier to write off as an accident maybe I just wanted to see how fast they'd rebuild the building if the building were destroyed entirely. seems like the whole thing went up overnight anyway
[They had established a back-and-forth where memories were concerned. And Ardyn told Dante to keep him up to date with his own experiences in the matter. It was only fair, he thinks, to offer the same.
(Plus, if it drives home the fact that Dante has someone he can speak to, regarding this or anything at all, well. It's worth it.)]
I had remembered being a healer, traveling around a world I'm not familiar with, saving the lives of many. And I don't mean a doctor; a healer, the sort you read about in a fantasy novel, magic and all.
[Dante snorts on his end. He's not afraid of getting arrested. But getting arrested would cause his parents a world of trouble if word of it got out, and as much as he's a teenage douchelord, he's actually not trying to cause them grief.
But like hell he'll admit that.]
i'm not afraid of getting arrested. it's a hassle i don't feel like dealing with
you've got a good point though. think if you destroyed it one night, it'd be back by the next morning?
[Man, this is hardly fair. He remembers dying, and Ardyn remembers healing people? He's getting the short end of the stick here.]
these memories just keep getting weirder and weirder. a month ago i would've said you were crazy for believing you might've used magic. now... it's still crazy, but i can't really doubt it either
so it sounds like you must have been a good person in this other life
I would eagerly agree with you, if not for the fact that the idea is tempered by the train memory. In which I had felt an immeasurable sort of hate and bitterness.
How one led to the other, I don't know. But in the context of only this newest memory... I suppose I was.
[Right... the train memory. He was so caught up in how it was so different from his own memories that he hadn't even thought to consider the juxtaposition of the two.]
and i'm guessing if it's anything like mine, you couldn't tell if you were "older" during one of the memories, right?
okay that's a good enough point. I can let that one slide THAT'S exactly what I'd like to know. we don't know where the building came from and checking it out we don't know what's actually in it. if we destroyed it, would it rebuild or would we find out what's actually in there? the problem is making sure there's nobody in the building while trying to destroy it. I'm not really into the idea of destroying people without a real reason
[...there are better ways to phrase it, but you know. Whatever.]
i doubt we'd be able to find out what's in there even if we DID reduce it to rubble
somehow even on the night of the blackout the doors wouldn't open and would zap you if you tried to force them
and there's something in there that makes the stairs turn into a slide if you try to climb them (and no i'm not making this shit up, i've got two people who can vouch for me)
but the point is that somehow even while the whole city was powerless, stuff like that still happened in the building. i'm willing to bet even if you destroyed it the rooms would somehow still be standing and locked
