[But Vic isn't to be found at the library, either, nor is she at the mall. In fact, it doesn't matter where they check or how long they search--Vic seems to be gone from Recollé entirely.
Maybe he should be more worried about her disappearance, but Dante can't help but be more worried about Vera. After all, she's right here, and with every failure to find Vic he's a little more worried about how she's going to handle all of this when it turns out that Vic is gone.
Because Vic is gone.]
I don't know how she would have disappeared like that--she didn't say anything to you about going anywhere, did she?
No... I never even saw her this morning, she was gone before I even woke up.
[She thinks back to the night before, how they talked about their days, laughed and flirted. That feeling of being held tight against her chest, looking up at those big green eyes. What if she never gets to experience those things again? How different last night would be if she knew this would happen.
Stop it, Vera, she tells herself subconsciously. Now isn't the time to get caught up in those things.]
I had breakfast made for her this morning, but when she never came home I checked the network. [And you know the rest.]
it's kind of a long story but i'll give you the tl;dr version you remember noct? noctis i would take tons of pictures of him back when lol you might remember he went awol yeh things got really bad healthwise he was in a coma for several months until about a week ago :)!!
[he never fucking uses emoticons..?!]
he doesn't remember a lot though didn't remember me at all, but... anyway we're working on that i just wanted to help him get back on his feet you know
[Again, Sora is unsure of how to respond to this. Is it true, that that Heartless from the memory was his darkness? Or is Dante just trying to hurt him? His brain feels like a jumbled mess, and suddenly he feels like he doesn't know anything at all.
His head hurts.
He wants to defend himself, but the icy feeling that's been sitting in the pit of his stomach since his most recent flashback is heavy and cold, and it's hard to think of a response when all you have is text. On the other hand, he probably wouldn't be able to say anything in person, either.]
i dont know
[That's a terrible response. Why did he even respond to begin with if he didn't have anything to say?]
[What can he even say to all of this? He's not the kind of guy to dangle false hope, but at the same time, he knows personally well how much it hurts to have someone close to you leave you behind--and how difficult it can be to let someone in that close in the first place. He doesn't want to let Vera down by being the one to tell her that person is gone.]
I'm sorry, Vera.
[And perhaps surprisingly, he is. Dante runs a hand through his hair, glancing away and trying again to find the words he needs. But finally, he shakes his head.]
I don't know where she could be. And Vic doesn't seem like the sort of person that would ghost someone, so that's out.
[He... doesn't, unfortunately, but Dante's not about to let that on! The only thing he remembers that might be relevant is a photo that had featured Extreme Fishing clothes...]
i can't tell prompto, are you excited about this
but sure, i can help get the stuff. but do you really think a party's the best idea if he just got out of a coma? or is this gonna just be a handful of people
[You say "party" and he immediately thinks back to the warehouse party. That'd be pretty overwhelming to a guy that's spent the past few months dreaming...]
don't mock me!! but yeah just a couple of people small party! a few friends of mine so you? minako, terra... i haven't made a list yet i haven't asked them yet either
well! it's mostly because noct doesn't remember the city! so i thought making the party in a place he's familiar with would make him feel at ease? just... you know, beers and ciders that kinda thing he has this huge video game + tv setup we can just have fun and relax
[She knows, and probably has since the beginning, even in the back of her mind. Victoria is gone, and no amount of searching is going to bring her back. Even if they did find her, she'd probably have no idea who they are. It's hard to say which would be worse.]
It's... okay, Dante. [She takes a deep breath, rubbing her eyes. Don't break down. Not in public. At least stay strong until no one else can see.]
